Growing up, I learned a lot (both consciously and subconsciously) about WHAT a woman should be – a good wife and mom, a provider, and someone whose dresses should be tight enough to show she’s a woman and loose enough to show she’s a lady. Despite knowing all of these things, the HOW of it was still a little fuzzy for me.
While I’m confident in my own skin, I still have my moments. Even though I’m a mom to two young adult daughters, I don’t necessarily want to look like it. And, even though I’ve had a successful 20+ year career, I feel like there’s so much more for me to do out there.
That’s why I started SisterLadyGirl. I wanted to explore the “how” of clearing these hurdles – both real and imagined – and find fulfillment as I get accustomed to life as a middle-aged woman.
Maya Angelou once said, “Stepping into a brand-new path is difficult, but no more difficult than remaining in a situation which is not nurturing to the whole woman.”
SisterLadyGirl is not just a reminder of WHAT I am, it’s the story of WHO I want to become and looking at HOW I’m going to get there.
I also want this blog to be a resource for women who, like me, have entered a new season of looking.
Mature women who are looking for inspiration in style, health, beauty, careers, relationships and how to live life to the fullest. Mature women who are looking for ideas about what to wear to feel comfortable, confident and more intentional. Mature women who are looking for a judgement free zone where bravery, strength and uniqueness are celebrated.
I’m honored that you’ve decided to join me in the journey. Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter and see a new blog post every Friday.
P.S. I decided to post a bunch of selfies because I’ve got a ton of them!
