The fact that I don’t loooove to shop may come as a surprise to some. I think it has something to do with my youth. My mom and I would go to the mall at least one Saturday out of each month — but only after ALL my household chores were done. By the time we actually made it to the mall, I was so tired from cleaning house all day, walking the entire length of the mall (sometimes twice!) and going in and out of every single store just felt like another chore.
These days, I’d much rather shop online if I’m being honest. But there are times when you actually need to touch and feel fabrics, try on certain pieces, match colors to your skin tone and determine if it’s something that’s even worth the investment.
In Tampa Bay, we’re really lucky to have a wealth of options when it comes to women’s clothing. Lately, I’ve been loving the boutique shopping scene because it perfectly illustrates the old saying: Less is more. There’s less aggravation, less stress and less time wasted. For me, all those factors add up to a more pleasant shopping experience.
That’s especially true any time I’ve visited Mainstream Boutique in Riverview, which has quickly become one of my favorite places to find unique, fun-to-wear pieces. And, the fact that the shop is located very near to where I live is an added bonus.
Whenever I’m hunting for clothes that can pull double duty and transition easily from work to play, I generally find myself making a quick run through Mainstream. I love that the staff is always ready with a recommendation, if needed. And, I’ve never felt pressured to buy; only encouraged to enjoy finding the pieces that work best with my lifestyle.
During my last haul, I found a beautiful cream-colored sweater that’s perfect for combatting this in-between weather we get so much of here in the deep south. The detail at the front is something you don’t see every day, which made it a unique find for me. I also stepped outside of my comfort zone and paired the sweater with some skinny pants. There’s lycra in these babies, so I got the silhouette I was looking for without feeling like I couldn’t breathe because I was squeezed into my pants!
I’ve often recommended Mainstream to anyone looking for what I call, “working woman” wear. It’s not a top of mind choice for me when it comes to buying party clothes, but there are selections for the holiday season.
