I can’t pinpoint the exact moment last year when I decided to broaden my horizons and start living more instead of merely existing. The important thing is, I made the decision. And, thank goodness I did. Otherwise, I might have missed out on one of the most incredible weekends I’ve ever had!
Last weekend, Southern Ford Dealers lent me a brand new 2019 Ford Expedition, which gave me an amazing opportunity to explore my sense of adventure. You can read about how it all happened here.
The Expedition is one of the largest vehicles I’ve ever driven. And, I’m not going to lie; it made me a little nervous at first. But, once I slid in behind the wheel, those butterflies disappeared really quickly. My initial thoughts as I looked around the cab were: This is not my father’s Ford! The multi-speaker sound system, the Apple CarPlay and Android compatibility, the voice guided navigation system … this vehicle had everything I needed for the ride of my life! And, the leather seats? They’re so roomy and comfortable; great for short and long haul trips.
The first event I drove to was a concert with the hubby to check out one of our favorite bands; Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. He, more so than me, LOVES technology, and was in heaven discovering all the smart convenience features on the center console. He was especially impressed with the wireless phone charger. I mean, who wouldn’t love that, right?
I honestly thought I’d struggle with parking but there’s all kinds of cool driver assist technology, including enhanced park assist features, that helped me maneuver into the space with no issues.
The next day, I was off on my own with stops in Orlando to see one of my best girlfriends who was in from Ohio for the weekend, and then Winter Springs for the 2019 Women on the Rise Conference & Empowerment Expo.
If you’ve never driven Interstate 4 between Tampa and Orlando, count your blessings because its not for the faint of heart. But, the Expedition’s GPS technology helped me navigate traffic beautifully and it has WAZE already built-in, so I knew what to anticipate on the highway, which made me feel a lot safer.
My final day was spent at the gorgeous Luxmore Grande Estate in Winter Springs. What a perfect venue for a women’s empowerment event that encouraged attendees to “Exist Loudly.” It’s as if they were speaking directly to me!
When I say this was one of the best weekends of my life, I’m not kidding. It was all about connecting — with old friends and new ones. Most importantly, it was an opportunity to connect with myself. And, I can’t thank Southern Ford Dealers enough for giving me such an amazing opportunity. I’m looking forward to even more great adventures in the future.
